Why is there no singing there?
Since childhood, the 'Ode to Joy' has accompanied me, the path to the Loschwitz Schillerhäuschen (Dresden) was always a walk into a world full of secrets, a past that somehow felt 'whole'.
When my parents first took me to symphony concerts, I always thought: Why is there no singing there? I only got to know opera later.
I dreamed of great poems by Goethe and Schiller and eventually I heard the 9th Symphony - there was singing, 'my' poem. Years later - 2019 - I staged my Schiller program 'Freedom - Beautiful Spark of the Gods' - Beethoven's version was of course the finale among the eight performed settings (there are over 100 in total!!!). Beethoven, Schiller, fate and one's (own) life journey - that belongs together for me.
What does he tell us with his art today, an art that wants, that wants to be more than art! What do we want? Today, with his music and his will?
I look forward to the joint creation – Beethoven Art Tour 1796 | 2026!
