For Beethoven, a shock to walk through Vienna today
It must be a shock for Beethoven to walk through Vienna today – especially completely deaf. 230 years ago, he lived with his patron Prince Karl Lichnowsky. The house was located at Alsergasse No. 45 (today Alser Straße 30). He certainly rediscovered the Pasqualatihaus at Mölker Bastei quite quickly, because the old cobblestones and the Baroque and Biedermeier houses have remained almost unchanged since Beethoven's time. He lived here the longest – with interruptions for about eight years. Here he composed hismost famous piano piece "Für Elise", worked on his 5th and 6th Symphony as well as the opera Fidelio.
“For Elise” – “With Beethoven” – actually a good start for his 2026 journey. Instead of a conversation book for communication, he will of course use digital media today. I am writing Ludwig van Beethoven a message that he will make his 1796 concert tour with us again and I am curious about his reaction. After about three hours I received his answer.
