Mail from Prague: The Titan and the Enfant Terrible. What a day!

27 January 2026 | Frank Wallburger (Reiseleiter)

While I continue to ponder Beethoven's silence in Vienna from Dresden, a strong creative wind is blowing from Prague. I have received two confirmations that could not be more different and yet fit perfectly into our mosaic.

First, the news from Veronika Bílková. An impressive young artist, born in 1994, who has proven with her award-winning book biographies about (of course!) Beethoven, Smetana, and most recently Martinů that she can capture the soul of the great composers with brush and pen. Her detailed knowledge of Beethoven's visits to the Bohemian spa towns is a gift for our route. With her, we have an expert on board who vividly illustrates history.

And then: David Černý. The 'Enfant terrible' of the Czech art scene. He replied to me between his works for Venice.

Černý is the man who shakes up Prague with his monumental, often kinetic sculptures – like the massive rotating Kafka bust, whose layers are constantly rearranging. His interest in our 'experiment' is sensational.

If Beethoven was the rebel of sounds, then Černý is his counterpart in today's public space. I can already envision how his radical aesthetics and technical brilliance will meet the spirit of the master.

I am full of anticipation.
Prague will be a centerpiece of our journey.
It feels like our 'tour carriage' is now gaining strong momentum.
